After its successful 1st Focus Group for the Benelux & France, MIC Customs Solutions was going rather strong with its 1st Focus Group for Europe, too!

Delegates from big players like Daimler, Volkswagen, Audi, MAN, Volvo Car Corporation, Volvo Group, Siemens, BMW, British American Tobacco, Hilti, Hugo Boss, Imperial Tobacco Group, Nokia, Wacker Chemie or Panasonic were among the audience, just to name some of them. Together with Mr. Manfred Winterleitner (Senior Customs Expert, government official of the Federal Ministry of Finance of Austria) and MIC representatives the delegates discussed how to manage multi-country customs operations and to prepare for the changes of the UCC. Besides this, plenty of time was given to network with the peers not only at the event itself but already at a very well attended "come together" dinner the evening before.

The key topics "Latest updates on the Union Customs Code and how they may affect you", "Benefits and challenges of a global centralized customs platform", "The global customs platform program at Imperial Tobacco Group" and "From brokers to in-house control of customs" have not only led to lively discussions but also to the conclusion that the UCC will be a challenge for all stakeholders, the national EU customs authorities, the traders as well as the customs software providers. The uncertainty about the implementation of the UCC and how this will affect the business is still rather big especially due to the differing approaches and interpretations by the national customs authorities. So, it was not that much surprising that the conclusive drinks reception was very welcomed.

The success of MIC's 1st Focus Group for Europe cries out for a repeat! Details on the 2nd Focus Group for Europe will follow soon.
