A new company headquarters with plenty of space for additional growth and modern working environments

News 11 May 2023

MIC is building a new company headquarters in Linz with almost 10,000 square metres of office space spanning a total of five floors. The new office building for today’s 500-strong workforce should enable annual growth of ten to 15 per cent over the next few years based on its size and enormous flexibility in terms of structure – key words: hybrid working and shared workplaces.

Special attention paid to sustainable and ecological construction methods

“We have designed the construction of our new company headquarters for it to be extremely sustainable and ecological. For example, we defined the ÖGNI Gold Standard certification (ÖGNI = Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate Management) as a project goal from the very beginning,” says MIC CEO Alfred Hiebl. The building will be constructed using a timber hybrid construction method with correspondingly sustainable building materials. Another important key point was the topic of energy efficiency, which is taken into account with, among other things, a large-scale photovoltaic system, and a well thought-out green roof solution. One part of the new headquarters also comprises a two-storey underground car park equipped with e-charging stations, which provides space for around 190 cars and 50 bicycles.

Modern office building with a future-centric concept of flexible working environments: “hybrid working” and creative spaces with an atmosphere characterised by comfort and productivity

MIC offers its employees the opportunity to work 50 per cent of their working hours in a home office. Therefore, rigid spatial concepts with fixed assigned workplaces are being dissolved and replaced by adaptable concepts.  The project is focusing on creating flexible and modern space options, as well as meeting and focus rooms that produce a creative environment and promote agile ways of working.

In-house catering area for employees

A catering area is being planned for the ground floor, which will be operated by an external tenant. Employees are provided with a wide range of freshly cooked meals here throughout the day. A quiet zone is also located on the ground floor, which is intended to offer peace and quiet according to the idea of a library. In addition, there are rooms for the MIC Academy – for the intensive training of new colleagues during their initial months, as well as the further training of staff. A fitness area with modern equipment is planned for the ground floor.
The plan is to move into the new MIC headquarters in the second half of 2024.
