PSA Peugeot Citroën relies on MIC’s SaaS Solution

Professionalism, reliability and the capability to create innovative customs software have been the convincing arguments for the French car manufacturer

With its two globally renowned brands, Peugeot and Citroën,
sold more than 3.5 million vehicles worldwide in 2011. As Europe's second largest carmaker, the group generated revenues of €59.9 billion. PSA has sales operations in 160 countries, 16 production facilities - including joint ventures - and more than 209,000 employees worldwide. PSA Peugeot Citroën is also involved in financing activities (Banque PSA Finance), logistics (Gefco) and automotive equipment (Faurecia).
With a volume of around 200,000 customs declarations per year, PSA is one of the largest customs declarants in France, with the need for a customs software provider that is able to handle this considerable amount. In 2011, PSA started its customs software provider selection process by evaluating the following key decision criteria: experience in the automotive industry, offering a multi-country customs software as basis for rollouts into other countries than France as well as the capability to create innovative solutions (e.g. Software as a Service -
). MIC was the only provider that fulfilled those and additional criteria and finally convinced PSA due to its professionalism and reliability. Since December 2011, PSA Peugeot Citroën is using
(Import&Export Handling) and
(Central Classification System) as SaaS solution for its French customs operations. The rollout to Slovakia and Spain is currently ongoing.
Find out more about this project and PSA's future perspectives with MIC. A detailed case study will be published soon.

Improved export compliance and process automation

is the worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of hard disk drives that are used in systems ranging from desktop computers and consumer electronics to data centers delivering information over corporate networks and the Internet. The hard disk drives are primarily sold to major original equipment manufacturers or OEMs but also to major distributors, who sell their hard drive products to small OEMs, dealers, system integrators and retailers throughout most of the world.
In 2011 Seagate chose MIC Customs Solutions as its customs software provider for the
. AES – Automated Export System – filing is required by the US Department of Commerce on all exports where a product is either controlled or the value of any one customs line is greater than $2.500. This requirement is already in place since October 2008 and provides tough penalty provisions to all parties involved in the export process that don’t adhere to these regulations.
However, after successfully stepping through the typical project phases, Seagate went live with MIC CUST® Export for the US AES filing this February. With this, Seagate not only benefits from a better export compliance but also from process automation and reduced workload.

Forecasts predict tremendous market potential for Turkey

Turkey is an important bridge between Europe and Asia. Due to Turkey's export strategy forecasting tremendous market potential and economic growth until 2023, the importance of Turkey to companies will experience a significant rise in the next years. Therefore MIC Customs Solutions was looking for a local partner who knows the Turkish market and its national customs regulations in detail. In August 2011 it turned out that CustomsAudit is the perfect partner with respect to their customs experience they bring into this cooperation. Today, MIC Customs Solutions and CustomsAudit have a close partnership and are working together on various projects to the advantage of both.

Siemens AG roll out of MIC CUST® to Denmark

Siemens AG uses MIC CUST® for Import declarations with direct electronic customs filing to SKAT

has been synonymous with international focus and worldwide presence for over 160 years. Today, Siemens is a global powerhouse with activities in nearly 190 regions.
The challenges confronting today's world are global - and so is Siemens. With a presence in some 190 countries, Siemens can offer customers fast, local, tailor-made solutions and that gives them a decisive competitive edge. Siemens' roughly 336,000 employees work at 1,640 locations around the globe, including 176 R&D facilities.
It was in 2000, when Siemens AG decided to implement MIC's international customs solution and 11 years after this decision, Siemens still trusts and builds on MIC's customs solutions.
At present, the multinational company has implemented the whole bundle of MIC's customs filing solutions (
,
,
) for Germany (
) and Austria (
). After a roll out of MIC CUST® to Switzerland (
) in 2009, and a roll out of MIC CUST® to Great Britain (
) last year, a roll out of MIC CUST® (
) to Denmark followed this year which started at the end of June.
As a result, the company can benefit from more efficiency, more transparency and ensured compliance via one single system.

The perfect tool to manage the 2012 HS Reform

MIC’s Central Classification System (CCS) helps businesses prepare for the changes ahead

January 1st 2012 marks an important date for all importing and exporting companies: from then onwards the HS Nomenclature 2012 edition will be in effect. HS 2012 includes 220 sets of accepted amendments, divided to a variety of sectors. The volume of amendments within some of them is substantial. Preparing now for the changes ahead can save you a lot of money due to the avoidance of incorrect tariff classification of goods, incorrect declarations of duties and inaccurate records.
MIC is providing the tool needed to effectively manage the 2012 HS Reform and thus giving you the green light for a smooth transition to the new HS Nomenclature 2012.

helps companies precisely classify products to conform to multi-national customs tariff schedules while cutting down on costs and workload. MIC CCS simplifies the designation, validation, assignment and re-assignment (e.g. due to global changes in tariffs like the 2012 HS Reform) of the classification and makes all information on tariffs available in a user-friendly format. Our software permits clear and easy control of the entire product classification process on a global level.

Benefit from major cost savings thanks to MIC’s Origin Calculation Solution (MIC OCS)

Many
exist between trade groups and countries.
provide tremendous opportunities for companies to save costs and improve their international operations.
However, only few companies are exploiting these benefits.
Many of them are not aware that establishing preferential origin of products reduces the costs of their imports. These cost reductions, however, are important to succeed in an international market. Usually lower import costs result in increased sales and substantially increased profit obtainable from the sale of each individual product.

helps you to exploit exactly these benefits, so that you can be ahead of your competitors.
MIC OCS, our origin calculation system satisfies all global market origin tracking requirements within Customs. It enables you to solicit and store origin data from suppliers and to calculate origin for manufactured products. Moreover, you can store and process rules of origin for an unlimited number of unique preferential / free trade agreements.MIC OCS' supply chain solicitation system makes it easier to generate and track origin requests through various options including a web-based supplier portal.
MIC OCS ensures that you are exploiting all benefits provided by FTAs.
